Supernatural Fan Fic Chap 2

Waking up was more painful than I thought it would be. I open my eyes and when I try to move my limbs feel like lead. I manage to make myself sit up. Dean is sat on the sofa next to Sam, they're both drinking beers. I force myself to stand. My legs scream with pain. I stumble over to the boys. Dean moves over enough to let me sit in between him and Sam.
"Rough night?" He asks sarcastically. I laugh. God why do I hurt so much, I'm a freeking demon, not a wimpy human! "You look like hell." I glare at him. "Sorry." He says muffling his laugh. I smack him on the leg, he winces in pain.
"What even happened? My memory blacked out after my fit." I admit. Sam turns towards me and Dean.
"No idea, you had an attack or fit of some sort then a load of demons came and started attacking. Cas got us out of there before it got ugly." Sam says.
"Where is Cas?" I ask Sam. He shrugs.
"He left a note on the sofa saying there's beer in the fridge and to call him if we needed him. He also left his uhh phone number." Dean says. "Wanna explain your freekout?"
"I honestly don't know what happened." I can tell they're not buying it. Well by saying I can tell I really mean by reading their minds I know they aren't buying it.

Supernatural Fan Fic

My phone rings, naturally I pick it up to see who's calling. Sam W. I open the phone and press it to my ear.

"Hey Lora." Sam says. I can feel a summoning charm happening if I don't visit them.

"What do you want Sam?" I snap, not meaning to be rude.

"We're on a case and need some help." Is all he says.

"Go visit my dad." I reply.

"We're at his." I hang up, sigh, close my eyes and snap my fingers. When I open my eyes I'm greeted by Sam, Dean and my father all sat on various chairs facing towards me. I turn my head slightly to the right to see Cas standing against the fridge in the kitchen, arms crossed. "Hey Lora." Sam says after an awkward silence. I smile although I'm still confused as to why I'm here.

"You said you needed help with a case." I say accusingly to Sam. Dean gets up from his chair and slowly walks towards the fridge. I watch him as a rug appears right in front of him and he trips. He pulls Cas down with him and for some reason he punches Cas. He stands up and grabs a beer. He heads back to his chair. Dean sighs opening his beer and taking a swig. "When did you get a rug in your kitchen Bobby?" He says changing the subject.

"Never." They all look at me as Bobby says this.

"You're going to pin this on me?" Sam shakes his head trying to hold back the rest of the piled up laughter inside of him. "So for Dean's sake lets change the subject. Why did you call me here?"

"Help us get inside the actors studio." Dean says, demanding. I roll my eyes and walk over to Dean. I tap him lightly on the head and watch as he disappears. I look to see if Sam is still here but he isn't. Neither is Cas. I smile at my dad before snapping my fingers and landing next to Cas. He turns towards me.

"I missed you, you scary, scary angel." I smile to him. He awkwardly smiles back before pulling me into a hug. I hug him tightly until Dean taps my shoulder. I pull away turn towards Dean and I notice Cas is gone. "Lets do this." I say. I follow Sam as Dean heads off in a different direction.

"Where have you been? You've been missing for two months. Today was the first time you even answered a phone. Even then you act so casual." He says.

"I was busy." Yeah busy. Like Sam's going to fall for that. I can tell he doesn't believe this but he doesn't press it. I nudge him in the ribs. He turns to me angrily. I point towards a closed door. I take the lead and try the handle. Locked. Sam lifts his hand up and reaches towards my head. I glare at him. He pulls a hairpin out of my hair. He goes to put the pin in the lock but it disappears. Sam gives me a confused look but I push him out the way and kick the door. It flies open. Cas and Dean are fighting. Dean shoves out of the cupboard like room and Cas follows, cooly. I shake my head and walk away slowly. I feel something grip my arm. I turn round pulling away. Cas looks at me whilst his grip gets tighter and tighter. "Cas." I say, demons don't get hurt easily but angels are really strong. He looks down at my arm and lets go. We stand here awkwardly looking at each other not sure of what to do. Then suddenly it hits me. Pushing Dean and Cas apart. Gabriel. It can't be. "Gabriel." I say. The realisation smacks Cas in the face as his awkward expression fades and an agreeing one takes its place. "We need to summon Gabriel."

"The arch angel?" Sam says. I nod as I tap his shoulder lightly and we re appear in Bobby's scrap yard. Sam runs inside to grab what he needs for the summoning and waits. Dean and Cas appear one on each side of me. "Ready?" Sam asks. We all nod. Sam drops the match onto the ground lighting up the intricate pattern. He mutters the arch angels name. A doubled over figure appears.

"Really?" He says straightening up and looking at us each in turn. "Ah, Lora. I have news for you." He says. I make a disgusted face at him. He speaks anyway. "You're part of a prophecy. A pretty important one too." Prophecy? "You know the one they teach in Demon 'Bible' school? The angel and the demon, betraying their own sides and creating a dangerous creature." My eyes widen.

"Oh God tell me you know who the angel is? I set you that task weeks ago." I know I'm the demon part of this. I just need to know who the angel is. The others are staring at me and Gabriel. "You might want to sort these three out first." I say. Dean screams at him about leaving Cas and him alone.

"I'll make you a deal." Gabriel suggests. Dean looks intrigued. I grab his arm.

"Dean, careful." I say. He turns to me, nodding he turns back to Gabriel.

"I'll leave you and Castiel here alone if you make Lora keep to the prophecy." My eyes widen again.

"Tell me who the angel is first." Sam snaps. I look at Sam curious as to why he cares.

"I'll tell you the names." Gabriel replies. Names. Plural. Names.

"What do you mean names?" I stress the s.

"There are three possible angels that fit the part. You're allowed to pick." Gabriel uses the awkward silence to carry on. "Balthazar, Raphael or my personal favourite, Castiel." I don't take in what he says right away. The names ring in my head. Balthazar. Raphael. Castiel. I can't get them out of my head. "Right, is it a deal then my boys?" He says turning towards the others.

"It's up to Lora, really." Says Dean. Cas is too shocked to move. I nod.

"Go for it." I say. I don't care really, I'm not going to do this prophecy thing anyway.

"Deal." Sam says. "Uhh how do Arch Angels seal deals?" He asks nervously.

"Sweetie, I'll seal your deal for you." I say, as a cross roads demon.

"Yes let the cross roads demon seal your deal. Come here then." Gabriel snaps. I walk over to him, step around the patterend flame and kiss Gabriel. I pull away and he disappears, the flames put themselves out. I turn back towards the others.

"Is Cas alive? You know, as alive as angels get?" Sam asks turning towards him. I shrug as Dean smacks his back. Cas blinks before leaving, a nervous and scared look on his face.

"I guess the news hit him hard. Not like I'm going to pick him though." Dean stares at me. "I'm not picking any of them. Forget prophecies." I yell walking away. I'm about to disappear when I hear a scream. Not Dean. It's Sam. I spin round to find a demon holding a knife to Dean's neck and Sam's being cut. I start walking back towards them. I'm stopped for some reason. I look down, then back up again to see Crowley. "Damn you Crowley!" I yell.

"Is that how kids are greeting each other these days?" He says calmly. "Anyway, I'm not here for chit-chat, I'm here about the prophecy. I want to know which angel you're picking and I want the child. It's the ultimate weapon." I roll my eyes.

"Does anyone care about what I think?!" I scream. "Let these two go and I'll discuss."

"Fine." He snaps his fingers and the demons holding them disappear.

"Now lets go somewhere more private." I say as calmly and nicely as I can manage. Crowley rolls his eyes and snaps his fingers again. We're in a junkyard but there's no one about.

"You're already pregnant, aren't you?" Crowley asks smiling. I shake my head. The smile is wiped off his face.

"Can I go?" I ask trying not to laugh at how pathetic he looks. He nods, I snap my fingers and I'm in the scrapyard of my dad's house. Sam and Dean run out towards me.

"Lora, are you ok?" Dean asks, Sam goes stiff. He just stands staring at me.

"Yeah why?" I ask. I turn my head slightly to the left to look at Sam. Dean turns towards him.

"Sam go inside and get Bobby, you just stay inside." Dean says calmly. It takes Dean elbowing Sam for Sam to actually run back into the house.

"Dean serious..." I'm about to carry on until I feel the stabbing pain in my chest. I look down slightly, I'm bleeding. I feel another stabbing pain in my back. My back arches and I collapse onto my back. I'm shaking and I can't move. Dean can seem to get to me. There's some sort of shield. I scream in agony as more of the stabbing pains occur around my body. Dean is joined by Sam and Bobby. They're slamming on the shield thing. Suddenly it stops. The shield seems to disappear. I struggle to keep my eyes open but manage to long enough to see Castiel tap the others, they disappear and he heads for me. I can't keep my eyes open long enough to see anything else.

District 1. A Hunger Games Fan Fiction.

I wake myself up by falling off the sofa. I look around forgetting where I am and see Peeta and Katniss cuddling. I smile before walking towards their dining room. Effie's there, Haymitch, Cinna and Portia too. They're eating and look at me strangely before remembering who I am and why I'm there. "Morning." I say. Cinna pats the seat next to him. I sit next to him. I plate up a small amount of food.

"You can have more." Haymitch says kindly. I hear someone walking down the hall. No, two people. Peeta and Katniss walk in and sit next to each other. I plate up a bit more. I swallow my last moutful as Effie looks at the time and gives us all a panicked look.

"The games are today! Go! We don't have time!" She wishes Peeta and Katniss good luck, kisses and hugs each of them. "Oh and good  luck Kasee!" She yells remembering I'm here. I hug her too. Haymitch privately speaks to each of them as I make my way to the roof. Peeta and Katniss catch up and I manage to hug each of them before walking onto the hovercraft, being strapped into a seat then being injected. My tracker. So they know where I am at all times. I'm strapped in next to Peeta and opposite Katniss.

"Good luck." Peeta whispers to me as we fly through the sky to the remake centre. I turn towards him, and for the first time, look at him. His blonde hair. Blue eyes. Nothing like Finnick. If you didn't know they were brothers you wouldn't be able to tell. Finnick with his brunette hair. Seaweed green eyes. They don't look alike.

"You too, Peeta." I squeeze his hand as a symbol of peace, let go and close my eyes until we land. I'm rushed into a cell like room and I wait for Tigris. When she enters she runs right up to me, dropping the packaged clothing and giving me a huge hug. She pulls away and silently helps me change. It's a fitted blue jumpsuit  with zippers down the front. It has a six inch wide padded belt covered in purple plastic.

"Something water related. There's going to be water. Maybe a beach too." Tigris says, as though to herself.

"You can tell that from this costume?"

"Sweetie," She says whispering and leaning in. "I know the shape of the arena. One of the Gamemakers got very drunk, told me, then was fired. Or executed. It's a..." People break in. I run to the tube and get on the metal plate. They start beating her. The peacekeepers. It's because she knows. "Tick Tock!" She yells as I shoot up through the tube.

The white hot sun beats down upon us. I don't understand Tigris' clue until I look at the layout. It's a clock. Twelve hands. Cornucopia in the middle. A ring of water surrounding. Then a ring of beach. Then a huge ring of forest. No jungle.

"Ladies and Gentlemen let the Quater Quell begin!" Claudius Winklemen announces. I run straight to the Cornucopia. Finnick Odair shoves me away from Katniss and I go flying. I feel a rib or two snap and my spine crunches as I hit the ground, full force. I force myself to stand even in the pain and grab a knife, a bow and a sheath of arrows. I dodge Finnicks trident as I run towards Peeta. He's stranded on his metal plate. I place his arm over my shoulders and drag/swim him to the beach surrounding the water. I let go of him, stand up and turn around to be faced with Finnick who raises his trident to kill me. This is it. You helped Peeta and you're about to die.

"Finnick! Finnick no!" Katniss screams at him. "She's with us." Us? They teamed with Finnick? Nice.

"Ok." Finnick says lowering the trident. Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! "Eight. We'll only know tonight." Katniss nods and suggests they move into the forest. They begin to move.

"See you guys later. Careful of the forcefield." I say as they walk off. Katniss turns back and looks at me confused. "I don't like jungles." She nods.

"I hope to see you again. So be careful, ok?" Katniss says. I nod as she walks off with the rest. It's a peaceful un-eventful night and I manage to make a camp on the beach with no interuptions. The antheme plays and the Capitol seal appears before the tributes.

Yarrow- District 5
The male morphling- District 6
Cecelia- District 8
Woof- District 8
Fancy- District 9
Twill- District 9
Thicket- District 10
Seeder- District 11.
I feel almost sad to see them all go. I've only been a victor for two years but I feel as though I've known them forever. It appears Peeta, Katniss, Finnick and Mags made it through the forest alright. After the seal leaves the sky I pick up my weapons and walk over to the waters edge. I take a breathe and dive down into the salty sea. There's some shellfish down here. I grab a few and surface. My camp is left untouched as I sit on the badly woven grass mat. I split one open and eat it fresh. Nice. Hint of flavour. And tastes a bit watery. Good at least there's some clean water somewhere in this  forsaken arena. I fall asleep after packing my supplies away. Tomorrow I venture into the jungle to find some food. I sit up, sweating from the intense heat. The suns directly above me signalling it's noon and I slept late. I pick up my black backpack, kick down my grass woven 'hut' and begin my treck into the jungle.I judge it to be about 2 o'clock when the fog arrives. I stop still. Where can I go? It's in a straight line. The beach. Jump in the water.  I tighten my backpack and start running. I'd had a good little spot. I found some nuts which I'd judged to be non-poisonous. I jump over vies and trunks and head in the direction of the beach. The fog begins to prick at my skin. Then I hear them. The people screaming. Cannons boom as I change course and run towards the screamers.

"Katniss!" I yell seeing her signature braid. She slows but decides not to stop as she carries Mag. She trips down as I catch up with them. Finnick turns to Mag and I watch as she gives him a kiss and walks into the fog. I help Katniss run to the beach. I slam down into the water and little puffs of white fog pours out of my body. I sigh in relief and pain as I roll over and strip off my jumpsuit. I chuck it onto the sand and lay in the water in my undergarments. I completely forget about the others until I'm tapped on the shoulder. I open my eyes and jump up.

District 1. A Hunger Games Fan Fiction.

Chapter 2.

I walk through the train to the dining room and sit on a chair by myself. I refuse to become friends or acknowledge Cashmere and Gloss. Even though Cash is my mentor. Gloss and I are supposed to team up with the careers. I'm not. No way. He can help himself but no thanks.

"Let's watch the reapings!" Dakota exclaims in her shrill voice. She switches on the television. We start with District 1 re-watching our own reaping. I notice the looks of pride on some people's faces when I volunteer, the anger from the others. In District 2 Brutus and Enobaria, I don't remember their games or anyones to be honest, except 12's. In 3 it's Beetee and Wiress, nutts and volts as Gloss calls them. From 4 it's Mags and Finnick. Finnick. No Kasee not your Finnick. This is Finnick from four. Not Finnick from 12. 5 offers up Atala Abalone and Yarrow Pickledeen. From 6 it's the morphlings. The ones addicted to the drug morphling. 7 brings us Blight and Johanna. District 8 Woof and Cecelia. Seriously. Woof? We gain Fancy Labradoodle and Twill Rathbone from 9. District 10 introduces us to Parsley Ficklewood and Thicket Hawksmoor. 11 gives us Chaff and Seeder. And from 12? Haymitch and Katniss. Well Haymitch until Peeta volunteers in his place.

"That's not a tough competition at all." Says Cash calmly. Gloss nods and grunts. "I'm going back to my room." Cash leaves.

"I'm going back to my room. The atmosphere in here... I need to think strategy." He storms out.

"What do you think, Kasee?" Dakota asks me trying to lighten the mood.

"I think Katniss and Peeta will win." I say, determind.

"Only one winner this year." She reminds me.

"They'll allow two again I bet. Rough up the competition." I say trying to sound more like a career. Dakota smiles.

"I'll leave the videos of each of your competitors games here. I'm going to talk to Cashmere and Gloss." And with that she leaves the room. I pull out just one video. District 12's. Not to see their fighting techniques. Just to see them. How they work. She hunts, he gathers. Teamwork. I want to be their ally. Will they trust me? I hope so. That's when I see it. The Mockingjay pin on Katniss' shirt. A Mockingjay. A genetically created species that mated with Mockingbirds to create Mockingjays. A backfire in the Capitols scheme. I need to make a Mockingjay symbol. But not a jewellery symbol, she'll never trust that. Something I can take in as my District symbol. Food. Not allowed. I know! I untie my shoe lace and tip my shoe upside down. A coin falls out with the Mockingjay symbol on it. I made it incase there was ever a rebellion. I turn it over in my hand. She has to trust me with this. I'm not worried about Peeta not trusting me. I'm worried about Katniss. I watch all the videos and it's about five in the morning before I realise I've been up all night. I yawn, stretch and walk around the room for a few minutes. Then some people, no avoxes walk in and start serving up breakfast. I walk in, no one else is around, I help them serve up. They look greatful but as soon as Dakota, Cash and Gloss walk in, I sit down and start eating. They're chatting about sponsors. I eat silently, careful not to answer any revealing questions. I walk up to the window of the train. Peering outside I notice the Capitol. Here I go again. No wait. This is for Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark. Then it hits me. Is this really for Katniss? Is it not just for Finnick Mellark, the boy you loved from 12? Is it to help his brother, Peeta? I tell myself to shut up and I stare out the window as we pull up at the station. We're rushed into a car and driven straight into the place we'll live till the games begin.

"Things are slightly different this year. The interviews will be tonight. Instead of another day. Training starts tomorrow and you have only three days of it. Then the real games begin." Says Dakota as nicely as possible. Great. Three days to become an ally with Katniss and Peeta. I can do it. The car arrives and Dakota takes us straight to our rooms. We're on the first floor. District 12 is 11 floors above us. I step into my room and am ambushed straight away by my prep team; Liquid, Ivory and Damian. My stylist will arrive later. They wax my legs, do my hair, make up and nails. Not much needs doing though as living in District 1 gives some advantages. It saves the pain of the leg wax.

"The lack of seafood really is annoying." Exclaims Ivory.

"I know. I ordered prawns and clams for my birthday but orders must've been backlogged." Agrees Liquid. Liquids skin is a light aqua colour, tatooed with waves that appear to move. Her hair and nails match her skin. Damian has a light olive skin colour with a forest green hair colour. Ivory is exactly as her name describes. Ivory skin, pearls surgically placed into her skin. I can't judge, I mean what if I was from the Capitol?

"You're all done. Tigris will be here soon." They all leave quickly and I have minutes to find my coin and hold it tight before Tigris waltzes into the room, stands me up, looks at me and let's me sit again.

"It's good to see you again Kasee." She says giving me a hug. "I have your dress ready." She leans in. "I teamed up with Cinna to make it. There's no effects though." She pulls away, smiling. She tells me to close my eyes as she steps me into the dress, pulls it up and makes alterations. She says to open my eyes, I do so and stare at myself in the mirror. It's a sunset orange dress, full length with sandals and a sunset pink hairband. "I knew you'd love it." She takes my hand and leads me to the seating area where we wait to go on stage for our interviews. I only have to wait for one person. Gloss then me. Then I'm next. Ceasar smiles at me, I smile back. He asks me pointless questions about the Capitol, has it changed since last time?

"Well we all know about Finnick Mellark, and we're all sorry about that as you know, but have you found anyone else?" Don't you dare try to use Finnick against me.

"No. I'm not interested in anyone from my District." That has to sting.

"Well! There you have it ladies and gentlemen, Kasee Amberson!" He smiles to the crowd before interviewing everyone else. Most seem to be complaining about the games, that they're being brought back in even though we're victors. It's Peeta's turn. He mentions a toasting ceremony. That's sweet. Then he says it. If it weren't for the baby... Katniss is pregnant. I instantly feel even more sympathetic towards Katniss and Peeta. She's 17, my age, and she's married and is pregnant. It's her interview next. All the victors stand up at the end of the interview. Instead of walking away we all link hands. The cameras turn off, the lights go black. We're left to get off the stage in the dark. I don't try to find my way off the stage, I try to find Katniss. It's dark but I manage to give her a hug.

"I'm on your side, Katniss." I pull off my headband with my coin knotted into it and hand it to Katniss. She turns it over in her hands.
"Thank you, Kasee." She says, handing me it back. She walks off with Peeta leaving me to stumble off the stage and into my room. I walk past Dakota and go straight to sleep. Tomorrow training begins.

I wake up to find a tracksuit on my bed. I laugh to myself as it's the same one from my first games. I put it on, do it up and walk out of my room. I must be a few minutes late, Atala has already started speaking. I stand at the back paying full attention until she's finished talking. Imediately everyone disperses to a station except me and Katniss. We stand there looking at the stations. I notice the knott station is empty and head there. I impress the trainer by showing her how to tie the knott used in my headband. Katniss joins me later on an works on an intricate knott. I decide to leave her alone, pregnancy can be a tough time on someone. Especially a seventeen year old girl.

For a girl from District 1 apparently I have good knowledge of plants, knotts, throwing a knife and camoflague. I attempt to fire an arrow but it lands next to my foot. Katniss walks over and helps me learn how to shoot. She's not the friendliest person I know, but you'd trust her with anything. I can tell Haymitch is telling her to make friends- she'd have left me alone otherwise.

"You're quite good." She says as I just miss the targets eye.

"Only because you helped. Thanks Katniss." I say. And I really mean it. I need all the help I can get. I can tell sponsors from 1 will be sponsoring Gloss, not me.

"No problem. Say, me and Peeta are looking for allies and you're not exactly a career, no offense." I smile. "So what do you think?"

"I'd love to." She leans in.

"Me and Haymitch are doing everything we can to make it so Peeta wins. Will you help?"

"Yes." I say without hesitation. She smiles. I can safely say that by the end of the day I can hit the target in the eye no problem. For the next few training days I cover all the stations, spending at least an hour to two hours on the ones I've never dealt with before. Then it comes to our private sessions. I'm second to go in but what shall I do? It's the rebellion. Quater Quell. What would Finnick Mellark do? I say to myself. Show up the Capitol. And that's what I'll do. About 15 minutes after Gloss went in I'm called through. I walk in, the Gamemakers watching intently. I grab a bow and just one arrow. I attatch a rope to it and launch it at the ceiling, they look at me with concern. The rope dangles from the ceiling to the floor. I grab a can of oil and three matches before I climb the rope, pulling it up with me as I go. The Gamemarkers are really confused now. I reach the top of the rope and start swinging backwards and forwards, pouring the oil as I go. I stop swinging Pull out and arrow, get it ready to launch and use a match to light the tip. The flame burns out before I can fire it. I pour some oil on it, relight it and fire it down to the oil below. The whole thing sets a light. I painted a Mockingjay. In oil. And set it on fire. I swing, somersault and land just outside the burning image. I drop everything, weapons, oil, matches and look up to the Gamemakers. They don't look impressed. "Mockingjay." I say before walking out. I see Gloss, Cash and Dakota are all chatting in the dining room. They won't notice if I don't turn up. I head into the elevator. I press 12. I'm zoomed up to the top floor, the penthouse. I stand down the corridor. I wait about an hour to two hours before I hear Katniss and Peeta enter there rooms. I stand up and knock on their door. Effie Trinket answers.

"Oh hello, Kasee, right?" I nod. "Can I help?"

"Is it against the rules for me to watch the replays with another District?" She shakes her head.

"I don't think so, why?"

"Can I watch the replays with District 12? 1 barely knows I exist." She smiles and nods then lets me in. She introduces me to everyone before I take a seat next to Cinna, Katniss' stylist. Katniss smiles at me. I smile back as Effie turns on the television. Gloss' picture appears. Then a number appears and it's as follows.

Gloss- 9

I stare at them in amazement.  Katniss gives me a hug of congratulations, but I turn away from Peeta.
"Would you like to stay for dinner?" Effie asks. I look at them all and nod. They take me through and I sit next to Haymitch and Effie. Everyone is involved in talking. It gets to about 11pm and we're half way through watching the games of other victors when someone knocks on the door. Effie goes to answer it as we put on the 73rd Hunger Games. My games. I hear yelling at the doorway and look up to see Cash screaming at Effie. I jump up and run over. Gloss is there too. He grabs me and flips me into the wall outside.

"Traitor." He says yanking his sister away and walking off. Haymitch helps me stand.

"You're spending the night here." He states, helping me back into the dining room.

"Thanks Haymitch. Thanks all of you." I say. We watch my games in silence. It's getting to the part where Finnick dies. Peeta excuses himself, then Katniss. Katniss says I can sleep on the sofa in her room so I follow her through, lay down and close my eyes.

"You don't mind if Peeta comes in tonight?" Katniss asks nervously.

"Not at all." I say. I fall asleep.

District 1. A Hunger Games Fan Fiction

Chapter 1

He runs to me. Calling my name. Four people can win this game. Two pairs. Two Districts get winners. That's what Cladius said. There's five of us left. District 2. Finnick and Maisy from 12. Me and Blight from 1. As soon as 2's gone, we've won. Finnick and I. We've made it this far. Boom! The familiar boom of the cannon blows through the wasteland arena. It's not Finnick, he's running towards me. It's not 12, she's following closely behind. I run towards Finnick and give him a quick kiss before...
I sit up. The light is coming through my curtains, it must be late. I push back my covers and notice the retro styled dress laying on my bed. I roll my eyes at it but I pull on some clean undergarments and change into the dress. I pat myself down before walking downstairs.
"Happy Reaping day sweetie!" My mother exclaims at me. She rushes over and gives me a kiss on the cheek. "Quarter Quell day and victors are going back in! Shame about District 12 though. There's not going to be a wedding now, is there? What with what's her name..."
"Katniss." I reply.
"What with Katniss going back in and with the boy..." She trails off again. Making me mad that she only remembers the wedding not about Katniss and Peeta. About their feelings.
"Peeta." I snap.
"And with Peeta most likely volunteering to stay with her. I mean it's like they don't even care about us! After all we do and they're cancelling the wedding. Honestly." She sounds like she's about to carry on.
"Shut up! Just shut up!" I yell, getting looks from my two brothers, father and mother. "No one cares about the wedding! What about Katniss and Peeta?!" I yell even louder.
"Katniss and who?" My father asks.
"Katniss and Peeta, the winners of the 74th Hunger Games." They stare at me blankly. "The star-crossed lovers of District 12?" They continue to stare at me blankly. "The couple from District 12 getting married!" I scream. They nod in recognition as I storm out of the house towards the town hall. Why was I born into this district. Why not 12? Where I have to try to feed my family. Where not everything is handed to me on a plate. I feel like I live in the Capitol, but more trapped. I think to myself as I stumble towards town hall. They prick my finger for a drop of blood.
"Name?" They demand.
"Kasee Amberson." I reply, emptily. She points me through to a pen of previous victors. They're talking about who's going in.
"I'll volunteer for anyone who gets reaped." Says Daveed Gristlewhist, he's in his late 40's but is always looking for a fight. I stay silent as I stand in the corner by myself. I can only think of District 12. Katniss having her name on all those pieces of paper. Haymitch being picked but Peeta volunteering for him. Our escort walks on the stage. Her name is Dakota, Dakota Moore. She's nice enough but I think the Capitol got to her head, I only think this because she used to be in District 1. Somehow she got out.
"Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to the 75th Hunger Games, The Quater Quell. As you all know it's only Victors being reaped this year. Ladies first!" She hobbles in her heels over to the ball. Dipping her hand in she pulls out the first piece of paper she touches. "Cashmere!" Cashmere smiles and walks down towards the stage. "Any volunteers?" I step out of the pen area.
"I volunteer as tribute." I feel the angry stares of the other tributes as I walk past Cashmere towards the stage. I want Katniss and Peeta to win. I can't help them if I'm not in the arena. I hold my head up high as Cashmere whispers in my ear.
"You better win this. Oh and I forgot, I'm your mentor." She smiles and kisses my cheek, letting me carry on. I walk up the steps.
"Hello, well everyone knows your name as you only won last year but tell us again sweetie."
"Kasee Amberson." I say clearly. She nods.
"Gentlemen, your turn." She walks over to the ball. Again she dips her hand in and pulls out the first piece of paper.
"Gloss!" She exclaims. He snaps his head towards his sister and whispers something to the male tributes. Don't volunteer for me. I think. "Any volunteers?" No one speaks. "Very well, a round of applause for our District 1 Vict... I mean tributes!" We're ushered off stage and into the Justice Building. Cashmere. She's going to be my mentor. The thought hits me like a slap in the face. I wait in the Justice Building not expecting any visitors when my friend Lydia, walks in. She runs up to me and gives me a hug.
"Win this. Win this for me." She pleads. "You're my only friend. Please." I know the building's probably rigged by the Capitol.
"No. I'm going to help Katniss and Peeta win." I whisper. She pulls away from me. Confusion fills her face. Then a peacekeeper comes in and takes her away, another one follows leading me and Gloss to a car with our escort. Then onto the train.
